Sinful Attraction 2009

I can play too...

This was technically my 3rd tour but in a lot of ways it felt like the first. It was the first time I'd been to a meet and greet, the first (and thankfully only) time I'd had a show cancelled and the first time that I did a stretch of shows that involved me travelling to different cities.

2009 was the year of Abnormally Attracted To Sin and to coincide with the album launch Tori played a few warm up gigs to introduce the new material to the world, one of the shows was entitled Acoustically Attracted To Sin and was held in the Savoy Theatre in London. So I flew to London for the show....but the day of the show I got a call from the box office to say that due to Tori falling ill the show had been rescheduled to a few weeks later. As stressful as this was it mean't that I got a second trip to London in almost as many weeks. The show was wondeful, a solo show that wasn't strictly acoustic. Tori opened the show with an amazing (and surprising) rendition of Famous Blue Raincoat and closed the main set with a belting performance of Barons Of Suburbia.

After what felt like a very long Summer the UK leg of the tour started in September. Having attended the cluster-fuck of a meet and greet for the Savoy show in May I was determined to go to a fully fledged meet and actually say some words to Tori. My stretch of the tour took me from Manchester to Glasgow followed by a 2 night stint in London. It was at the second London show that I finally got to a meet and greet. The crowd outside the Hammersmith Apollo was large but I had patience, I eventually got to see Tori and say hi. Got my copy of the London Original Bootleg from 2005 signed (in memory of my first show) and requested Not The Red Baron. To my surprise Tori busted out the song that very night, and completely made my day. It was a great end to my tour....or so I thought.

Tori released Midwinter Graces at the end of 2009 and I just happened to be in London with my sister for a few days that coincided with Tori's surprise show at the legendary Jazz Café. I got myself down to the HMV early enough to snag a wrist band to get me into the show. Luckily my sister didn't mind me ditching her for the night, so off I went to finish off my year by seeing Tori solo playing her heart out.
